You walked out of the salon with the perfect shade — and you want it to stay that way. The truth is, colour does most of its fading in the first 10–14 days, which is exactly when small habits make the biggest difference. Here's how our colourists keep your colour looking salon-fresh for weeks.

1. Wait 72 hours before your first wash

After colouring, the hair cuticle needs time to close and seal the pigment in. Washing too soon lets colour molecules slip straight back out. Give it three days — your colour will thank you.

2. Turn the temperature down

Hot water swells the cuticle and rinses pigment away. Wash with lukewarm water and do your final rinse cool — it seals the cuticle and adds shine.

Cool water isn't just for colour — it's the single easiest way to add gloss to any hair type.

3. Use sulphate-free, colour-safe products

Harsh sulphates strip colour fast. A gentle, colour-protect shampoo and a weekly mask keep the tone true and the hair conditioned. Ask us which line suits your shade — we match products to your exact colour.

4. Wash less, dry-shampoo more

Every wash is a tiny fade. Stretching to 2–3 washes a week — with dry shampoo in between — dramatically extends the life of your colour.

5. Shield it from heat and sun

UV and hot tools oxidise pigment. Always use a heat protectant before styling, and wear a hat or use a UV-protect spray on long days out.

6. Book a gloss top-up

A professional gloss or toner refreshes tone and shine in 30 minutes — it's the secret to colour that always looks "just done", especially for balayage and blondes that can turn brassy.

7. Keep to your colour calendar

Roots show at around 4–6 weeks; balayage stretches to 10–12. Booking on schedule keeps the grow-out soft and seamless instead of stark.
